ARTOPIA COMES TO THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING
The Department of Education and Training has invited artist Vanessa Bradley, a part-time DET employee and a professional artist, to paint in the Departments atrium during this years
Artopia. Artopia is the biennial festival celebrating the talents of local artists across the state of Western Australia. Vanessa will have a number of her paintings and drawings on display from a current body of work entitled Seams and Spaces in Between. This series explores themes that
reflect the hardship faced by pioneering women who came to Western Australia, the harshness of their environment and the colourful personal stories of those who make up the rich tapestry of this land. Being a migrant herself, Vanessa has a strong interest in researching women whose stories reflect resilience and strength. She will be working on a new painting during her residency and would like to invite teachers and small groups of art students to visit her during her time at the
Department.
